This year's emphasis is on Native/Indigenous Peoples of the Americas. This includes Inuit people, Alaskan Natives, American Indians, Native Hawaiians, First Nations, Metis, and indigenous peoples of Mexico, the Caribbean, Central American, and South America.
Typically, grants have ranged from $7,500 to $30,000, made in accordance with the project budget. Nominations are submitted by Deans/Department Chairs in conjunction with the faculty of established U.S. colleges and universities.
The deadline for applications is June 1, 2013.

The site's curriculum integrates the Digital Media Arts Club model that the Public Media Corps has already developed, as well as the Standing Bear’s Foosteps standards-based Social Studies curriculum to broaden its reach beyond after-school and community groups and into the classroom as well. The curriculum, in implementation, will allow Native (and non-Native) youth to respond to the question: “What is the Meaning of Home?” through carefully crafted media responses. Read More
The month of February found me back at the Ponca tribal community of White Eagle working with the students to create a video for the American Graduate Film festival. The video is to address the festival theme is, the dropout crisis in America. The plan was to bring back the students from the Standing Bear's Meaning of Home summer program for another round of making digital media with Mac Air books using I-movie.
